Global Game Jam ’12

February 3rd, 2012 by

So, it’s been a week since we participated in the Global Game Jam, The Netherlands. We love making games, so why not give up our weekend working  doing what we love. We had found ourselves a willing fifth Beatle: Heinze Havinga, although we just called him our Tim Schafer, an endless pit of weird (and sometimes also very fine) ideas. Perfect addition for our team!

Friday: Off we go!
When we installed our workstations Friday afternoon it became clear to us that we, apparently, are old fashioned. Everybody had a laptop! We took our precious monster machines, some cases being  held together with duct tape. We had everything up and running before the introduction ceremony started.

The theme for this years Global Game Jam was an image of…

The Ouroboros (or Uroborus) is an ancient symbol depicting a serpent or dragon eating its own tail. The name originates from within Greek language; οuρά (oura) meaning “tail” and βόρος (boros) meaning “eating”, thus “he who eats the tail”.

Happy Holidays!

December 21st, 2011 by

Seeing how the Steam Christmas Sale has started, its function as herald of the holidays once again proves itself as Firedroid remembers they probably need to make one of them crazy holiday cards as well, what with the well-wishing and everything.

So! Then we did.

All of us at Firedroid wish you happy upcoming holidays and a new year filled with games and sweet abandon. We’ll keep drawing/writing/coding/designing throughout the cold days, stocking up on ugly sweaters and mugs of hot chocolate to prepare for the onslaught of presents from our adoring fans on Christmas eve. Yes?

Happy Holidays!

Interviewed by

November 16th, 2011 by

The interview we had with a few weeks ago has been published! We are quite flattered by the kind introduction words. We are not too sure about ‘The Firedroids’ soap. Although, we might actually consider it if our careers as game-developers end badly, it does have a ring to it.

There are at least three reasons why I love Firedroid, the aspiring Android and iOS developing team from The Netherlands. The first reason is Barrr, a gorgeous managing game, that received great 23 points in our Android Game Review. The second reason is the awesome pirate setting of Barrr, that allows me to speak like a real scurvy pirate whenever I be needin’ ‘n. I lust that! :D

The third reason is that the Firedroids (Rachel, Willem, Mariecke, Roy) are so extremely nice guys and – please look at the picture – they look like a happy family.

I bet there will be a daily soap called “The Firedroids” on TV, where we can see the harmonious live together of these four friends. However, for now we content ourselves with this interview.

Maybe we should just combine the two of them…
